Women in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu
When asked if Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is recommended for women my answer is always
“It's better for women than for men”. Why? Because
normally when a woman gets attacked, the attacker is not trying
to box or kick-box with her. The attacker most likely wants to grab
her and control her movements and this often includes taking her
to the ground. Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is perfect for that type of confrontation.
Benefits
of BJJ for Women
- Women learn how to escape, hold, control, and submit an opponent from the ground.
- Using the principles of leverage and angles, BJJ equips
women with the defensive tools required to subdue or escape a larger
or stronger person’s aggression.
- Women’s classes are open to only women with perhaps one advanced male student to assist with demonstrations.
